Dansby Swanson is putting together a fantastic season for the Atlanta Braves in 2022.

The Braves are obviously the defending World Series champions, and Swanson is helping them make a strong case to repeat.

In fact, he is tied with Aaron Judge with a 4.0 fWAR, which is fourth in all of baseball and third in the National League.

But he might be on pace for a big accomplishment this season.

Braves insider Grant McAuley tweeted an interesting fact, that being, that if Swanson can reach 100 RBI this year, he’d be the first Braves shortstop to accomplish this since Herman Long did it in 1899.

A Chance At History

This would be a huge accomplishment for Swanson.

Last year, Ozzie Albies became the first Braves second baseman to reach the century mark in RBI since Bobby Lowe did it in 1897.

That’s obviously pretty close to when Long did it, so it would be an interesting twist if Swanson can get to 100 RBI this year, just one year after Albies made history.

Swanson is an underrated star who is rivaling players such as Judge, Mike Trout, Jose Ramirez, and Trea Turner.

It would be quite something for Braves fans to be able to see Swanson reach 100 RBI and be the first shortstop to do so in over a century.

The Braves made history last year with their World Series title and Albies reaching the 100-RBI mark.

Who’s to say Swanson can’t get there this year?

The 28-year-old shortstop already has 49 on the season.

There’s still a little time left in the first half to drive in some more and prepare for a big second half.

Anything is possible, and we’ll see what Swanson can do.
