Not many things have gone well for the Chicago Cubs this season.

But, they are still in the thick of things in the NL Central.

The Cubs have a 21-26 record but are somehow still in third place in the division.

One player that has helped keeps the Cubs’ season afloat is outfielder Christopher Morel.

He has been on fire ever since joining the Cubs on May 9.

In 12 games this season, Morel has already hit nine home runs.

He has scored at least one run in every game and has been the Cubs’ best offensive player in that timeframe.

It begs the question: Why did he not start the year in the big leagues?

The Cubs thought Morel would be better suited to get regular at-bats in Triple-A.

Now their GM thinks that could have been a major reason for Morel’s hot start to this season.

According to Jesse Rogers, Morel hit 11 home runs in Triple-A before getting called up.

But, Cubs GM Jed Hoyer did not regret the decision of starting Morel in the minors.

You can tell Morel picked up a ton of confidence with his play to start the year.

That was what the Cubs had hoped for.

Morel has singlehandedly won the Cubs a few games this year.

The home run pace he is on is something you rarely see in the league.

For the Cubs’ sake, it is better late than never to give Morel his chance.

He has been great so far this year and the Cubs hope he can continue to carry them.
