The Kansas City Chiefs have some work to do if they are to officially clinch a playoff spot, something that seemed to be a lock until very recently.

They have a 9-6 record after their Week 16 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, giving them four losses in their last six games.

Kansas City will face the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, and the Bengals, who are 8-7, will not be easy to defeat.

Unfortunately, they could be without running back Isiah Pacheco for this crucial contest who is listed as questionable.

Through 13 games, Pacheco has 805 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns, as well as 209 yards and a touchdown in the air.

An argument could be made that outside of Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce, he has been the Chiefs’ top offensive weapon, which shows how much their wide receivers have struggled in 2023.

In the past, their passing game and its weapons have been the envy of the rest of the NFL — they were first in points, passing yards, and passing touchdowns last season as quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the league in the latter two categories en route to his second MVP award.

But this year, the Chiefs are just 11th in scoring, and while they’re fourth and third in passing yards and passing touchdowns, respectively, those rankings are misleading.

It has led to Pacheco being utilized more than he was last year, as well as an increased reliance on their defense, which has actually been quite strong this year.

Kansas City has reached the AFC Championship Game in each of the last five seasons, but their chances of getting there again this season are waning.
