Can Luke Getsy Find A Fix For The Bears’ Offensive Line?

For the past two seasons, the Chicago Bears offensive line has been in the top five in allowing sacks.

While some issues stem from Justin Fields being a mobile quarterback, other sacks fall squarely on the offensive line.

Without a fix, the career of the Bears quarterback might be in jeopardy.

However, Luke Getsy can scout out some talent for the Bears at the Senior Bowl.

Getsy, the Bears’ offensive coordinator, is the head coach of the American Team for the Senior Bowl.

This position allows him to scout some of the best talent going into the 2023 NFL Draft.

While he might not find a first-round pick, he can find some solid offensive line help for the Bears.

Even Jim Nagy, the current executive director of the Senior Bowl, feels the Bears can “re-shape” their offensive line with two players from the American Team group.

The re-shaping is something the Bears need, as defenses sacked Fields 55 times this past season.

His 2021 season saw the offensive line allowing 36 sacks against him.

With 91 sacks over the last two seasons against him, the offensive line isn’t helping him.

The team needs linemen who can protect a mobile quarterback, as Fields moves around too much in the pocket.

Players like John Michael Schmitz, Darnell Wright, O’Cyrus Torrence, Matthew Bergeron and Steve Avila could be key in fixing the Bears’ front five on offense.

While the NFL Draft is in April, the Senior Bowl is the Bears’ road to a smart draft this season.
