After the troubled season they had, many fans of the Chicago Bulls were expecting their team to do big things in the offseason.

Instead, the Windy City franchise didn’t do a lot, bringing in Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig and retaining some of their current stars, such as Nikola Vucevic.

Speaking to The Athletic, GM Marc Eversley said that this was one of three paths the Bulls could have taken in the summer.

“We could have (torn) it down. We could have rebuilt. Or we could have retooled…And we chose to retool,” Eversley said.

Eversley also added: “We like where we are today.”

Where they are – or where they were, when 2022-23 ended – was the 10th seed in the East with a 40-42 record.

That was a far cry from just seasons ago and obviously way out of Finals contention.

Therefore, this “retooling” might not be enough for some fans who are demanding more, as soon as possible.

It is not surprising that the Bulls worked hard to keep Vucevic, seeing as they spent a lot of money on him recently.

The rest of the choices that the Bulls made show that they do believe in the roster they have, even if it hasn’t paid off yet.

But the question remains: How much longer will this team remain the same before the front office demands some big changes?

The team is still without Lonzo Ball but still has stars like DeMar DeRozan, Vucevic, Zach LaVine, and others.

How much longer will they stick around before the team decides it is time to stop focusing on retooling and time to start rebuilding?
