Black Louisiana State Trooper Fired for Defending Ronald Greene

0

A Black state trooper has been fired in Louisiana after speaking out about police brutality and racism within his department.

The move comes after trooper Carl Cavalier gave several television interviews in which he criticized the department for the handling of the death of Ronald Greene. Greene, a Black man, died after he was beaten and dragged during an encounter with state troopers. Police initially reported he died in car crash, though that later proved to not be the case.

A spokesperson with Louisiana State Police says Cavalier was let go because he violated department policy. BNC legal contributor Paul Henderson joins “Making the Case” host Yodit Tewolde for the latest in these legal stories and others.
