Trea Turner is one of the top free agents currently available after declining the Los Angeles Dodgers’ qualifying offer.

One would assume that the market for a shortstop such as Turner would be very competitive.

MLB free agency is always a fun time as the experts speculate on where certain players will go.

On Twitter, a sports betting analyst posted some free agency odds for Turner, assuming that the Dodgers will not retain him.

The New York Yankees are at the top of the list, with the Philadelphia Phillies and San Francisco Giants following to round out the top three.

Turner Free Agency Odds

At the bottom of the list are the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, and St. Louis Cardinals.

The Yankees may be an unlikely fit given that Brian Cashman, the team’s general manager, has said that he anticipates Oswald Peraza and Oswaldo Cabrera battling it out in spring training for the shortstop job.

But the Phillies would be an interesting fit.

They recently declined Jean Segura‘s club option for 2023.

By signing Turner, they could shift Bryson Stott over to second base.

The Atlanta Braves would be an interesting fit as well.

They of course have a hole at shortstop left by the potential departure of Dansby Swanson.

The Red Sox and Cardinals both appear to be unlikely destinations, given that Boston has Trevor Story at the shortstop position as of now, and that the Cards have Tommy Edman lined up to claim the starting job in 2023.

But if the Red Sox lose Xander Bogaerts, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them pivot to one of the other shortstops.
