One team that is looking to surprise some people in the Eastern Conference is the Toronto Raptors.

Toronto made the playoffs last year as the fifth seed in the East.

Then got knocked out by the 76ers in the first round.

But, in 22-23, the Raptors are looking to do better than that.

Toronto has gotten off to a 1-2 start this season but has lost by an average of 3.5 points.

They are competing in every game and have some players playing very well.

Without further ado, here are three reasons to watch the Toronto Raptors this season.

Pascal Siakam MVP Chase?

Through three games of the NBA season, Pascal Siakam is playing like an MVP candidate.

He is averaging 30.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game.

He also has a 37-point triple-double to his name this year.

Siakam has flourished into an all-star caliber player in recent years and now he is looking to take that next step to stardom.

The Raptors have never had an MVP winner, so Siakam is looking to make history in Canada.

Development Of Scottie Barnes

The Raptors selected Scottie Barnes with the fourth overall pick in the 2021 draft.

All he did in his rookie year was average 15.3 points and 7.5 rebounds while winning rookie of the year.

Barnes is looking like he could be a great running mate to Siakam this season and in the future.

If he can continue to develop his outside shot the sky is the limit for the second-year player.

Playoff Potential

Everyone should want to watch the Raptors to see how they match up against other playoff teams.

The Eastern Conference features the Celtics, Bucks, Nets, and 76ers as contenders.

Toronto will be chasing those teams all season to see if they can get a top-four seed.

Plenty of optimism is surrounding this Raptors team as they head into the season.

Now it is time to see if they can live up to the hype.
