The San Antonio Spurs come into the 2022-23 NBA season with low expectations from the media.

But, do not tell them that they can not compete this year.

After three games the Spurs are 2-1 and have two impressive wins.

One over the Indiana Pacers and the other over the Philadelphia 76ers.

While they might struggle at points in the season there are bright spots with this team.

Here are three reasons to watch the Spurs this season.

The Emergence Of Keldon Johnson

The best player on the Spurs this season is Keldon Johnson.

The 23-year-old has made improvements every year of his career.

In his first year, he scored 9.1 points per game and that has increased to 12.8, 17.0, and 21.5 (through three games this year).

Outside Shooters

San Antonio has a good group of outside shooters that make them exciting to watch.

Devin Vassell, Josh Richardson, Keldon Johnson, and Doug McDermott can all shoot the three at a high level.

The 22-year-old Vassell is the player that stands out.

Entering his third season, Vassell has improved his three-point percentage each year.

While the Spurs may struggle to score inside, they have shooters on the outside who are not afraid to let it fly.

The Final Years Of Gregg Popovich

One of the greatest coaches in NBA history may be in his final few years as a head coach.

The 73-year-old Popovich is a five-time NBA champion and has built one of the most well-run franchises in the league.

Despite the talent in San Antonio, Popovich always has them ready to compete each year.
