3 MLB Teams Have The Best Odds For The First Lottery
In the past, you could take a quick glimpse about the MLB Draft order for the following seasons just by looking at the reverse order of the standings.
That is not the case anymore after the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiated during the lockout.
18 teams will enter the draft lottery to opt for the first six picks.
It’s a way to stop incentivizing tanking, as teams with the worst record aren’t guaranteed to land the first pick of the lottery.
The win-loss record, however, is going to assign odds to get a lottery pick.
According to Fox Sports MLB, here are the three teams with the best odds to get the first overall pick.

The lottery is expected to take place at the Winter Meetings in San Diego in early December.
The Teams With The Best Odds
The Washington Nationals were, by far, the worst team in Major League Baseball.
It was quite predictable, though, because they traded almost everyone with a moderately expensive contract or upcoming extension candidates, including franchise star Juan Soto.
The Oakland Athletics and the Pittsburgh Pirates, however, have the same odds to land the number one pick as the Nats.
They were similarly bad, too, and both are rebuilding franchises looking to return to relevancy.
The odds for all of them are calculated at 16.5 percent.
Then we have the Cincinnati Reds, who started the season with a 3-22 record but “recovered” enough to avoid a bottom-three finish.
Their odds are calculated at 13.5 percent.
The Kansas City Royals are next with 10 percent odds, and the Detroit Tigers follow that with 7.5 percent odds.
Who will secure the first pick of the 2023 MLB Draft?
