2 Reasons To Still Watch The Utah Jazz This Season

After trading Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell this summer, the Utah Jazz entered a long-term rebuilding project, and it seemed like there would be no reason for excitement for their fans.

However, every great thing has to start from some type of seed, and a couple of the seeds for potential future success could already be there for the Jazz.

In their first regular season game on Wednesday, they blasted the Denver Nuggets, a team that is considered by most to be a championship contender, 123-102, and it was certainly an auspicious start to their season.

There are two reasons Jazz fans should still pay close attention to their team and enjoy the ride as much as possible.

 

1. Collin Sexton

The best player Utah received in the Mitchell trade, Collin Sexton is a very skilled guard who can score points in bunches and help carry the team’s offense.

On Wednesday versus the Nuggets, he came off the bench to score 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field in just 21 minutes.

Sexton also did a good job of drawing fouls and capitalizing at the free throw line, as he was 7-of-8 from the charity stripe.

It’s easy to forget that just two seasons ago, he averaged 24.3 points a game on 47.5 percent overall shooting and 37.1 percent from 3-point range.

 

2. Ochai Agbaji

Ochai Agbaji is another player the Jazz received for Mitchell, and he is an intriguing prospect who could become a core member of a winning team in the future.

The rookie wing can hit 3-pointers, play defense and jump out of the gym to throw down highlight dunks.

The Jazz may not make the playoffs this season, but Sexton and Agbaji could serve up plenty of highlights to keep their fans entertained, not to mention hopeful for the future.
