Yankees Fans Had The Perfect Josh Naylor Troll

During Sunday’s Game 3 of the American League Division Series between the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Guardians, Josh Naylor‘s home run trot became viral.

Homering against Gerrit Cole to cut the Yankees lead to 3-2 that day, he pretended to rock a baby while running the bases, mocking the Yanks’ pitcher and implying, according to some Guardians’ teammates, that Cole was his son.

The Yankees didn’t have much of an issue with the gesture: Cole himself said it was “cute” (in a sarcastic way, but that was it) and manager Aaron Boone downplayed it.

Yankees fans, however, hated the whole episode.

They have shown it on Twitter and in the stadium.

During Game 5, every time Naylor stepped to the batter’s box he was booed.

New York Fans Want Naylor To Feel The Yankees Are His Father

The creative Yankees fans, however, had another trick in their sleeves.

It’s what they used to chant Pedro Martinez in the 2003 postseason run that resulted in a Yankees’ ALCS victory against the Boston Red Sox.

In this specific case, since Naylor implied he is Cole’s father, Yankees’ fans want to make sure he feels the Yankees own him.
