  • Another wave of missile attacks across Ukraine was recorded on 26 January. Damages were reported in Vinnytsia, Odesa and Kyiv, as well as civilian casualties in Kyiv. Kherson and Sumy oblast were also shelled on 26 January.

  • Emergency shutdowns of electricity were ongoing in Kyiv city and region, as well as in Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa. Two energy facilities were targeted in Odesa.

  • The World Health Organization (WHO) handed over 26 ambulances to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, with funding support from the EU – DG ECHO.

  • According to the recently-published 2023 Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO) for Ukraine, 17.6 million people are in need of multisectoral humanitarian assistance, including 6.3 million IDPs, 4.4 million returnees and 6.9 million people who remained at their homes. Among those who remain in Ukraine, the highest needs are in Eastern Ukraine. Older people, people with disabilities and people with lack of economic resources are those most affected.

  • The European Commission is coordinating the delivery of assistance via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism to Ukraine, from all 27 Member States and four Participating States. Over 81,000 tonnes of assistance from these countries and items from rescEU stockpiles have been delivered to Ukraine via the UCPM logistic hubs in Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
