Eight Ukrainian city and village leaders are currently in Russian captivity, it is claimed.
The Association of Cities of Ukraine, a group of local governments in the country, continues to appeal for the release of captured local leaders.
According to the association, those being held include:
– Eugene Matveyev – Dniprudnensky City Mayor
– Alexander Shmigol – Vilkhiv village head
– Alexander Babych – Goloprystan City Mayor
– Igor Kolyhaev – Kherson Mayor
– Valentina Kostenko – Velikokopanívsʹkij village head
– Dmitry Lyakhno – Gornostayiv village head
– Sergiy Hilchenko – Khrestivsky village head
– Peter Zbarovsky – Novotroitska territorial community head
