Trae Young’s Rough Patch Continues

After a major trade for Dejounte Murray in the summer, many people thought 2022-23 might belong to the Atlanta Hawks.

Well, that hasn’t been the case, as the team is stuck in eighth place in the East with an even 24-24 record.

That doesn’t mean there isn’t great talent on the team – there certainly is.

But a few players are still adjusting to the new lineup and experiencing a few problems.

Trae Young, the team’s lead star, has suddenly gone very cold from a crucial part of the court.

During his last four games, Young is just 1-of-17 from beyond the three-point line.

That is a shocking statistic from one of the best shooters in the league.

The most startling game for Young was on January 20, when he was just 1-of-7 from downtown against the New York Knicks.

While it’s jarring to see Young have serious issues from beyond the arc, his team has won two of their last four, which means they are still able to find success despite Young’s rough patch.

Players like Murray, De’Andre Hunter, John Collins, and others have been doing quite well.

And while Young’s three-pointers are in trouble, he still scores.

His field goal percentage hasn’t dipped below 40% during the last four games.

The Hawks are lucky that Young is versatile and they are also lucky that multiple players can step up.

Still, you can bet that Young is spending a lot of time in the gym trying to find his stroke again.

The months ahead will be pivotal for the Hawks as they try to secure a spot in the playoffs.

There is a chance that if that doesn’t happen, Atlanta could make some major alterations and lose some of their biggest names.
