The White Sox Hold A Surprising Lead Over The Cubs

The Chicago White Sox may not have had a very successful season in 2022, but they still managed to be better than their crosstown rivals, the Chicago Cubs.

The White Sox finished the regular season at 81-81, 11 games back of the first place Cleveland Guardians in the AL Central.

The Cubs finished 74-88.

But there’s more to it than just that.

As it turns out, the White Sox were on the top 10 list of teams who sold the most gear in 2022, ranking at No. 3.

The Cubs are nowhere to be found on that list.

Also, a map shown on Twitter pictures which team was the most popular in each state in terms of sales.

In Illinois, the White Sox were the most popular team.

Chicago Is A White Sox Town

To be fair, the White Sox were coming off of a season in which they went 93-69 and won their first AL Central since 2008.

The Cubs had just traded away all of the remaining stars from the 2016 Championship team.

But it appears that their crosstown rivals are the most popular team in Illinois in terms of sales.

Again, on that list of the top 10 teams who sold the most gear, the White Sox were third on the list.

The Cubs on the other hand, were not there at all.

As of now, the White Sox are the best team in the state of Illinois.

Granted, nobody cares right now about Illinois State bragging rights in October, since neither team reached the postseason.

But right now, it’s a White Sox state and Chicago is a White Sox town.
