Everything said by Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies gets a lot of attention from NBA fans.

Some people love him and some people hate him but all people pay attention to him, especially as his team rises through the ranks of the league.

However, a comment he said last month has garnered more attention – and criticism – than anything else.

Last month in a sit-down interview with Malika Andrews, Morant said that he “wasn’t worried” about any teams in the Western Conference.

He actually said that the only team he was really concerned about was the Boston Celtics.

But people are pointing out that Morant and his Grizzlies are just 15-14 against the West this season, meaning they aren’t as dominant as they think they are.

Should Morant and his team be more worried about the other teams in their conference?

The answer is yes, absolutely.

The West is more competitive than it has been in years.

While the Denver Nuggets are currently the top team, others like the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans are playing better than they have in decades.

And no one should count out the Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, or Golden State Warriors, who are attempting to find their footing and surge forward in the second half of the season.

Morant had the same sort of confidence last season but that year ultimately ended with an injury and his team being pushed out in the playoffs.

His hope is that he and the rest of his team will stay healthy and able to redeem themselves in the postseason.

While his self-belief is helpful, Morant better not let his guard down because the rest of the West is aiming for him.
