The Warriors Are Having Trouble In Overtime

On Wednesday night, the Golden State Warriors learned that almost doesn’t count.

The team was facing off against the Minnesota Timberwolves and was attempting to improve their dreadful road record for the season.

Unfortunately, they got close but they didn’t get close enough.

In overtime, the T-Wolves walked away with a big win, 119-114.

The Warriors have many problems but one of their biggest ones is the inability to close out a game in overtime.

In fact, the Warriors have the worst OT record in the NBA over the last five seasons.

They have gone 2-of-15 in overtime during the last five seasons, while the Charlotte Hornets have gone 5-of-20, the Orlando Magic have won 4 out of 10 times and the New Orleans Pelicans have a record of 8-16.

It is surprising to see the Warriors, one of the best teams over the last decade, struggle so much at such a pivotal point in their games.

Last night was another example of this.

During overtime, only Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole scored for their team, both of them earning two points each.

What is the solution to such dismal results in overtime?

Obviously, the smartest thing the Warriors could do would be to create a wider margin between themselves and their opponents during regulation.

If Golden State was able to put the Timberwolves away earlier in the game then overtime would have never happened.

But the Warriors had trouble with the T-Wolves all night long on Wednesday.

That was partly due to the strong work of D’Angelo Russell, a former Warriors player who went for 14 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter of the game.

The Warriors just couldn’t slow him or the rest of his team down which led to their kryptonite: the dreaded overtime.
