Sunday morning tropical update: Two areas to watch in Gulf, Atlantic

0

The NHC has highlighted two areas that have the chance for tropical development this week.

The NHC continues to highlight the NW Gulf for low chance of tropical development. A disturbance moving from the east to west could try to develop by mid week. Long-range models show that it could be a weak system as it approaches the Texas coast. Whether it’s a weak system or not it’ll certainly be a rainmaker for areas in Texas.

Another area we’re watching over the Atlantic Basin 94-L has a higher chance for tropical development in the next 4-5 days. Most likely it’ll become a tropical depression or tropical storm by mid-week. Intensity models show that this area could be the first hurricane of the season. We’ll have to wait and see but it’ll continue it’s westerly movement over the Atlantic. It’s expected to approach the Lesser Antilles by mid-week.

The next names on the list are Bonnie and Colin.
