RUSSIA SHARES FOOTAGE OF MILITARY TRAINING IN BELARUSThe russian defence ministry released footage on saturday of what it said was russian troops training at belarusian firing ranges.The video showed artillery and combat training.The ministry didn’t specify the exact location of the drills.Authorities in belarus approved the creation of two joint troop training centers with moscow on the territory of the east european country, which borders ukraine.Russia has previously used belarus, its long-standing and economically dependent ally, as a springboard to send troops and missiles into ukraine.UKRAINE POLICE, BROADCASTS RETURN TO KHERSONAuthorities say Ukrainian police officers and broadcasts are returning to the southern city of Kherson following the withdrawal of Russian troops after more than eight months of occupation.A report by British broadcaster Sky News showed residents emerging after the city and surrounding villages were retaken.The report also showedlarge ammunition stores which officials said were apparently left by Russian forces.In one village, Ukrainian soldiers were treated to a hero’s welcome and posed for selfies with overwhelmed residents.UKRAINIAN FORCES MET WITH CHEERS IN KHERSON VILLAGECivilians in the Kherson region continued to greet Ukrainian soldiers with cheers and celebrations on Saturday, according to footage shared by the country’s National Guard.On Friday, celebrations broke out in the city of Kherson when advanced special forces personnel entered the city in the wake of the Russian withdrawal.Russia relinquished its final foothold in the major city – one of the first to be captured in the invasion that began February 24.The withdrawal could act as a springboard for further advances into occupied territory.Russia’s Defence Ministry said its troops finished withdrawing from the western bank of the river that divides Ukraine’s Kherson region at 5 a.m.The area they left included the city of Kherson, the only provincial capital Russia had captured during its nearly nine-month invasion of Ukraine.Videos and photos on social media showed residents jubilantly taking to the streets, waving Ukrainian flags and chanting in celebration.
