They gave third baseman/left fielder Kris Bryant a huge contract before the 2022 campaign, and are now looking to improve their roster with more impact free agents.

With some money to spend and the drive to get out of the NL West basement, the Rockies are reportedly interested in a very good outfielder slated to hit the market.

Nimmo has played his whole MLB career with the New York Mets and is one of the most underrated performers in the league.

The Rockies have Nimmo, who is the perfect leadoff hitter for any team, on their “preliminary list” of free agent targets, according to Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post.

Nimmo Is Looking For A Multi-Year Pact

Nimmo could require a five-year deal worth around $115 or $120 million, according to reports.

The problem for the Rockies is that the Mets are keen on retaining their star outfielder, and Nimmo is also interested in returning to Queens, where he is one of their most important players.

The Mets have interest in retaining Nimmo, who has expressed a desire to return.

Nimmo, currently 29 years old, made $7 million in 2022, his last season of team control via salary arbitration.

He slashed a cool .274/.367/.433 this year with 16 homers, 30 doubles, and seven triples.

Besides his excellent offensive play and his obvious on-base prowess, he played some excellent defense at center field, which boosts his value by virtue of playing a premium position.

The Rockies will need to put a lot of dollars on the table to fend off other targets who may have a quicker path to contention.
