Reds Share Moment Of Scott Rolen Getting HOF News

Baseball players often go as far as their talent and work ethic takes them.

Truly special players have a lot of both.

However, behind all the achievements of an MLB star there is usually a strong household, many sacrifices from players’ mothers and fathers, and a lot of love.

All these things were evidently abundant in Scott Rolen‘s house.

The Cincinnati Reds, the team with which Rolen played from 2009 to 2012 to finish his career, posted a wholesome video of the new Hall of Famer telling his parents he got voted into Cooperstown.

All the road trips to other town’s parks for games, the happiness about a win, the bitterness of losing when you are a kid and a teenager, and the hours of training and watching baseball came down to one hug with his mother and his father.

Rolen can now say he has a place among the immortals.

He was voted in with his name being on 76.3 percent of the ballots.

Rolen was, together with Adrian Beltre, MLB’s premier two-way threat from third base.

His offense was comfortably above-average, and allowed him to finish his career with a .281 batting average, 2,077 hits, 316 home runs, and 1,287 RBI.

His defense, however, was elite and perhaps one of the best ever by a third baseman.

His eight Gold Gloves prove that he simply had no peers in the National League.

All things considered, Rolen’s place in Cooperstown is very much deserved.
