After an interesting 2022 season that saw them make an unexpected jump into the postseason picture, the Baltimore Orioles are ready to spend some money and build a contending ballclub in 2023.

Buoyed by Adley Rutschman and other young stars, the team won 83 games and finished just three games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the third American League Wild Card spot.

With a solid nucleus of young players, the Orioles can now look towards the future and try to build around them.

On Twitter, one Orioles fan proposed the idea of the team signing a veteran bat such as Michael Brantley.

Orioles Fan Wants Particular Signing

Brantley would be a good fit for the Orioles.

Not only would he bring a little power and consistency to the O’s lineup, but he would also be a key veteran voice that some of the younger players can lean on.

The 35-year-old hit for a .288 average during the 2022 season and hit five home runs.

Injuries limited the veteran to just 64 games in 2022, but he is not far removed from a 2021 season in which he hit for a .311 average and helped carry the Astros to the World Series.

Health is obviously a major key.

If Brantley can stay healthy, then he could be a valuable asset to the Orioles, or whichever team ultimately signs him.

He is 35, however, so there could be a few risk factors involved.

But at the very least, Brantley brings a veteran presence and plenty of winning experience.
