NFL Analyst Makes It Clear Where Daniel Jones Negotiations Are Headed
It looks like New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is demanding a huge new contract that would pay him at least $45 million a year, and there is considerable doubt that he deserves that type of money.
He is set to become an unrestricted free agent, and the Giants have a dilemma, as star running back Saquon Barkley will also be a free agent.
NFL analyst Dianna Russini reports that one way or another, Jones is likely to remain in New York next season, and it could be via the franchise tag, as the Giants may not want to pay Jones what he wants.
“On the New York [Giants] side of this, they are set on a certain number they think Daniel Jones is worth, and that’s nowhere near what Jones’ camp believes.”

Many have doubted Jones’ ability as a passer, as he had a modest 3,205 passing yards, 15 passing touchdowns, and a passer rating of 92.5 this season.
But his big talent is moving the chains with his legs, and he displayed that talent with 708 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground in 2022.
New York got off to a very surprising 6-1 start, and although they came back to Earth afterward, the team still reached the playoffs with a 9-7-1 record.
Once there, they upset the Minnesota Vikings, who won 13 games, in the Wild Card round before getting trounced by the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional round.
Assuming Jones remains with the Giants, they need to get him some help at the wide receiver position.
Their most productive wideout was Darius Slayton, who had 724 yards, and they finished just 24th in passing touchdowns and 26th in passing yards in the regular season.
But New York has proven that they can win ugly, which could make Jones a decent signal-caller for the group moving forward.
