In the minds of some, University of Alabama quarterback Bryce Young is the top prospect in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft.

His passing ability and feel for the game have been lauded by many, and he threw for 3,328 yards and 32 touchdowns while leading the Crimson Tide to an 11-2 record and a 45-20 win in the Sugar Bowl over the Kansas State University Wildcats.

But many are also concerned about Young’s modest stature, as they feel his height of six-feet tall, or just a bit under that mark, won’t be able to hold up in the NFL.

Analyst Albert Breer told Colin Cowherd that despite Young’s lack of size, he appears to have just about all the other tools needed to succeed at the next level.

Breer said that if Young had decent size, he would be looked at as perhaps the next Joe Burrow or Andrew Luck.

He said that as it stands, perhaps a decent comparison for Young would be former New Orleans Saints star Drew Brees.

Brees was just six-feet tall and weighed about 209 pounds, yet he had tremendous passing ability that allowed him to lead the league in passing yards seven times and surpass the 5,000-yard mark five times.

He was also one of the most accurate passers in NFL history, as he finished his 20-year career with a 67.7 percent completion rate and went over 70 percent seven times while leading the league in that category six times.

If Young turns out to be elite in at least one category, such as pocket presence, escaping the pocket, or passing accuracy, perhaps he can overcome his lack of size and become a star in the NFL.
