Nashville school shooting: Victims, shooter identified

Three of the victims of a school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, were just eight and nine years old. Metro Nashville Police identified the children as Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney.

In addition to the students, three staff members at The Covenant School were killed: Cynthia Peak 61, Katherine Koonce, 60, and Mike Hill 62.

The shooting was first reported at 10:13 a.m. Metro Nashville Police Department’s Don Aaron said a five-member team arrived at the scene minutes later. They reportedly heard gunshots come from the second level of the school.

Aaron said the officers engaged the shooter, who has been identified as a 28-year-old White female. She was shot and killed, Aaron stated. Police initially believed the woman was a teenager, but clarified her age upon further investigation.
