The Denver Nuggets are making franchise history this year with their first appearance in the NBA Finals.

Yet, there are quite a few people still talking about the team they recently defeated in the Western Conference Finals: the Los Angeles Lakers.

Indeed, many headlines are still revolving around the Lakers’ mid-season comeback, a possible LeBron James retirement, and more.

The attention paid to LA is overshadowing the Nuggets a bit and head coach Mike Malone is ready to move on.

“If anybody is still talking about the Lakers in the NBA Finals, that’s on them. They’ve gone fishing. We’re still playing,” Malone recently told the press.

It’s obvious to see why so many people are fascinated with the Lakers.

They are perhaps the most famous franchise of all time with one of the best players of all time.

Additionally, they turned their season around in a huge way this year and have a roster full of engaging stars.

Yet, the Nuggets definitely did something more impressive: after years of fighting hard through injuries and a tough conference, they have finally reached the top of the league.

Malone is proud of his players and wants the attention to be on them, from Nikola Jokic to Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Aaron Gordon, and others.

Malone is clearly frustrated by the situation but he knows that at the end of the day, the facts speak for themselves.

Yes, the Lakers have an interesting story to tell but they were still beaten by the Nuggets.

Malone is also well aware that the best way his team can steal all attention away from the Lakers and every other team is to win the Finals.

He is working hard to make that happen.
