The New York Mets have been very active in the winter months, having made several key moves to strengthen their team and prepare for a World Series run in 2023.

The starting rotation is set after the signings of Justin Verlander, Jose Quintana, and Kodai Senga.

But the bullpen may not be finished yet.

One free agent the team could target is veteran left-hander Andrew Chafin.

Chafin posted a 2.83 ERA with the Detroit Tigers in 2022 and is still unsigned as of now.

On Twitter, a Mets fan posted a highlight on Chafin recording a strikeout and called for the team to make a move and sign him.

The Mets have already added some quality veteran relievers in David Robertson and Adam Ottavino, but could potentially add another piece.

The team could use a left-handed reliever.

This is where Chafin comes in.

New York already has a solid bullpen, led by electric closer Edwin Diaz.

They also have lefty Brooks Raley in their pen.

A second veteran left-hander certainly wouldn’t hurt.

Chafin is one of several pitchers that have been surprisingly left unsigned up to this point, joining right-hander and former Met Michael Wacha.

But New York could be a fit for the veteran lefty.

The Mets also have the financial resources to make it happen.

Owner Steve Cohen has made it perfectly clear that luxury tax thresholds are of no concern to him, so he may have some tricks up his sleeve to try and add another key piece.
