McCarthy Still Doesn't Have Votes after 6th Speaker Vote
The House of Representatives is meeting to try and elect its new Speaker on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the chamber failed to elect a Speaker on the first vote for the first time in 100 years, after the GOP caucus split its support between leader Kevin McCarthy and several other candidates. Watch live.
The 6th round of voting for Speaker of the House ended with:
212 votes for Hakeem Jeffries (D)
201 votes for Kevin McCarthy (R)
20 votes for Byron Donalds (R)
The House has adjourned until 8 pm Wednesday.
