Martin Scorsese’s Documentary on New York Dolls’ David Johansen Gets Showtime Premiere Date

New York Dolls’ David Johansen is the center of a new Martin Scorsese documentary, and now, the project has a premiere date on Showtime. Personality Crisis: One Night Only arrives on April 14, airing at 8 p.m. and hitting streaming the same day. David Tedeschi co-directed the feature with Scorsese, which has Ron Howard and Brian Grazer as executive producers. Watch a trailer for Personality Crisis below.

Scorsese first announced the project in July 2020, developing a tour through Johansen’s career around a January 2020 recording of the musician’s cabaret show at Café Carlyle in New York. In an earlier press release about Personality Crisis, Scorsese remarked on his personal relationship with Johansen and creative inspiration, saying, “David’s music captures the energy and excitement of New York City.”
