Louisiana SSD Superintendent's July 2021 Address

In the July 2021 address for the Special School District, Superintendent Ernest Garrett III discusses Governor John Bel Edwards signing Act 468 (HB 253) into law, effective July 1, 2021, establishing the Special School District (SSD) as an independent state agency with oversight by a board of directors.

The Superintendent goes on to thank Representative Scott McKnight for authoring the bill. He details some of the changes that SSD will go through die to this bill including: the oversight of a Board of Directors, the change of SSD’s funding structure to that of a public school.

Finally, the Superintendent explains that the commitment to Education Without Limits has not changed through our ongoing efforts.
