Louisiana CHP Holders get a Digital Carry Permit

The Louisiana State Police have recently announced that concealed carry permit holders can now include their permit in the LA Wallet app. This app is the official digital identification holder for the state of Louisiana, allowing users to store a digital copy of their driver’s license, state ID, hunting and fishing license, and now, their concealed carry permit. The digital version of the permit will be honored as proof of a valid concealed carry permit, but physical cards will still be issued, and users are not required to use the app. It’s also recommended to have the physical card on hand in case of encountering an agency unfamiliar with the LA Wallet change or needing to show it as proof for a background check when purchasing guns.

The LA Wallet app is currently free to download on both iPhones and Androids, and concealed carry permit holders can choose to use either the physical card or the digital version. Regardless of the chosen method, all concealed carry permit laws still apply. It’s important to note that while the app may be a convenient option for carrying the permit, it’s always wise to have a physical card on hand as well.
