Lawmakers pass proposals on gender identity, preferred pronouns in La. schools

Louisiana lawmakers discussed several education-related proposals on Wednesday, April 26, as part of the ongoing 2023 Regular Legislative Session. Something we’ve been keeping our eyes on is a bill at the Louisiana State Capitol to prohibit discussions on sexual orientation and gender identity in the classroom. Another bill we’re keeping tabs on would prohibit teachers from using a student’s preferred pronouns or name that differs from their birth certificate.
