There were many people who thought that the Memphis Grizzlies would beat the Golden State Warriors on Christmas night.

The Grizzlies are the third-best team in the West with a 20-12 record, while the Warriors are still blundering at 11th place and are without their biggest star, Stephen Curry.

But apparently, the Warriors didn’t get the memo because they came out swinging.

This led them to a surprisingly strong 123-109 victory behind the star performances of Jordan Poole with 32 points and Klay Thompson with 24.

Thompson received a technical foul during the game for taunting Memphis’ Dillon Brooks following a great shot.

After the match, Thompson opened up about the taunting and the rivalry that has grown between these two teams.

“You can’t talk dynasty when you haven’t won before,” Thompson said, referencing boisterous comments made by Brooks and other Grizzlies players over the last few months.

“I thought that was premature talk,” Thompson added.

He went on to say that the Grizzlies make the Warriors perform better and while they don’t necessarily like the team, they respect them because they are a force in the West.

Will these two teams be seeing each other again in the postseason?

Menacing Memphis

The Grizzlies are definitely a team on the rise.

The Warriors and Grizzlies met each other during the playoffs last season in one of the most memorable series of the year.

Ultimately the Warriors won that series, of course, before going on to win the Finals.

Memphis has become a true contender in the West and players on the team obviously believe in themselves a lot.

Even though Thompson and his Warriors are having a rough season, they still think that they are the dominant team.

Honestly, NBA history and their treasure trove of trophies back that up but the Grizzlies are becoming a true threat.
