Playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins has made his TV debut as creator of the series “Kindred,” an adaptation of Octavia E. Butler’s novel about a Black woman who travels through time between present day Los Angeles and a 19th century plantation. Jacobs-Jenkins joins Washington Post associate editor Jonathan Capehart to discuss reimagining the American classic and why he thinks more stories about slavery need to be told.
