Jerry Black US Army World War II Veteran Interview (March 21, 2018)

The following is a video interview of Jerry Black of Baton Rouge, Louisiana who served in World War II as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Mr. Black originally attended Louisiana State University where he served in the ROTC and after graduating in 1943 went in the service. While in the military, his main assignment was working with entertainment which included putting on various USO type shows for soldiers fighting overseas. With this job, it enabled him to meet famous Hollywood actors and entertainers such as Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra.

This is an Oral History Interview of his experiences as a U.S. Army Veteran. Kourtney Davenport completed this Veterans Oral History Project as part of my History 1123 class at Baton Rouge Community College. This Oral History Project is open to any student in my History classes at Baton Rouge Community College. Jerry Black U.S. Army Veteran Interview was conducted on March 21, 2018 and lasts over 15 minutes at 15:38.
