Jeremy Pena Has Had A Rookie Year For The Ages

The Houston Astros are one win away from winning the World Series.

After an incredible season that saw the Astros win 106 games, winning the fall classic is their final goal.

One of the main reasons for their success this season has been the play of rookie shortstop, Jeremy Pena.

The Astros let Carlos Correa walk in free agency and gave the shortstop job over to the rookie.

He has been everything the Astros could have hoped for this year.

Pena recently became the first rookie shortstop to win a gold glove award and postseason series MVP (ALCS).

He has also been the best Astros hitter in the World Series.

In the first five games of the fall classic, Pena has hit .381 with one home run and three RBIs.

His eight hits in the series also led all players.

The Astros must be thrilled with the play of Pena.

Rookie Of The Year?

While Pena has been the best rookie in the playoffs.

He is unlikely to win the rookie of the year award in the American League.

Mostly because that is a regular-season award and Julio Rodriguez/Adley Rutschman had better seasons.

Rodriguez was the only rookie to make the all-star team, and he had 28 home runs and 25 stolen bases.

Also, Rutschman was one of the best defensive catchers in baseball, along with leading all rookies in doubles.

The whole MLB was loaded with young talent this season, Bobby Witt Jr. should even be in consideration for AL Roy.

Even though Pena will not win the regular season ROY award, he has been the most valuable rookie in the playoffs.
