Is Walmart Open on Thanksgiving 2022?

There is always stress around the holidays, in particular, if you are the one preparing the Thanksgiving meal. It takes a lot of time and effort to plan a feast. And with all the dishes and desserts, sometimes it can become too much to manage. It’s easy to forget things or leave something in the oven a little too long, which may require a trip to the store. But if it’s a holiday, you may not have many options. Stores that once remained open no matter the date have changed their policies. So if you are wondering “Is Walmart open on Thanksgiving 2022?”, you’re going to be disappointed with the answer.

Thanksgiving at Walmart

For years, Walmart stood out as the retailer that was always open, even during the holidays. When you forget an ingredient or had unexpected guests, you used to be able to run to your local Walmart to get what you needed.

However, due to the disruptions in the supply chain and labor shortages in the wake of Covid-19, Walmart closed its doors on holidays back in 2020. And, it has continued to do so, after its corporate officers reassessed the cost of staying open during the holidays.

And, there is little hope their stance will change. On the “Today Show”, their CEO announced that “It’s a thing of the past. We’ll be closed on Thanksgiving,” but “fortunately, all of our associates will be able to spend time with their loved ones this year.”

Plans for Thanksgiving 2022

Knowing that more stores will be closed, it’s best to plan ahead for Thanksgiving 2022. Since it always falls on the fourth Thursday of November, you can one (or several) shopping trips before the actual holiday.

This year, it happens to be November 24. Unfortunately, Walmart is not open on Thanksgiving 2022. So, you’ll need to make sure you have everything you need for your holiday feast. Write out your menu and the ingredients you’ll need, then head to your local store before the big day. Otherwise, you may be stuck asking family and friends for ingredients if you need something on Thanksgiving Day.

Getting Ready for Black Friday Deals

The good news is that Walmart stores return to business as usual for Black Friday. In the past, people would line up the night before and race to be the first to take advantage of the Black Friday Deals at Walmart. But, this has also become a tradition of the past as well with deals starting earlier in November and extending beyond Cyber Monday.

Therefore, there’s no need to rush the store or for employees to referee the crowds. You should be able to shop at your convenience. However, Walmart has yet to announce its hours of operation for Black Friday.

If you prefer to skip the crowds, you can also do all your Black Friday shopping at Walmart.com which will still be available 24/7. And, sometimes their website has a greater selection than your local stores. Plus, it provides quick delivery options.

When it comes to the best deals, Walmart has you covered. But if you need something on a holiday, you’re going to need to look somewhere else.
