Is The Stock Market Closed on Veterans Day 2020?

Veterans Day falls on Friday, November 11, 2022. If you were hoping to conduct some stock market trades on the holiday, you might be wondering, are the stock markets closed to observe Veterans Day? If you fall into that category, here’s what you need to know.

Is the Stock Market Closed on Veterans Day?

No, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and NASDAQ do not close for Veterans Day. Instead of shutting down for the holiday or using a reduced schedule, both are open per their typical operating hours. All trading can commence as if it were any other Friday.

Is the Bond Market Closed on Veterans Day?

Yes, the bond market is closed on Veterans Day. While the difference in schedule may seem a bit odd, the bond market follows the schedule set by SIFMA, and that differs from the stock market schedule. As a result, while the NYSE and NASDAQ are open, the bond market isn’t.

U.S. Stock Market Holiday Schedule 2022

Both the NYSE and NASDAQ follow identical holiday closure schedules. The only times when one closes while the doesn’t typically involves technical problems that don’t impact both markets.

Here is a look at the NYSE and NASDAQ stock market holiday schedules, including short-days and complete closures, for 2022:
