0

Prior to July 1, 2021, college athletes were prohibited from monetizing their personal brands. A panel of sports business veterans discussed how increasing pressure on the NCAA has made it possible for athletes to generate revenue based on their own name, image and likeness (NIL). “Recent decades saw the NCAA grow into a multimillion-dollar business, and things came to head in 2009 when a former UCLA athlete sued Electronic Arts because his image and likeness were featured in an EA game without compensation,” explained Bill Sanders, president of August Icon Marketing.

Panel:
• Teri Carson, Director of Compliance, @UCLA Athletics
• Lauren Sesselmann, Olympian, Brand Influencer and Entrepreneur
• Arielle Moyal, Founder and CEO, Moyal Enterprise

• Bill Sanders (Moderator), President, August Icon Marketing
