He’s a husband and father of five and a man with a heart for those in need, working globally through his foundation to help address the medical needs of those who desperately need assistance. As one of the state’s three elected public service commissioners, he’s on a mission to improve the utility infrastructure of Louisiana, in an effort to lessen the inevitable hardship from hurricanes.

The shortage of registered nurses is a growing issue in both Louisiana and the nation. Rural areas and underserved communities are at the center of the crisis, with few tangible plans available to address the shortage. To combat this, LSU Health New Orleans was recently awarded a $3 million dollar grant to provide health equity and care in these communities. In this segment, Dr. Leanne Fowler talks about the program and how it could relieve the shortage.
