Heroes of the Green with Kevin Caldwell

Farmer Tom Heroes of the Green with Kevin Caldwell was born in Virginia and moved to New Orleans in 1992. While pursuing a career in the hospitality industry, he also was a food entrepreneur as well as an intelligence analyst for a law enforcement training program. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 he became a community leader in rebuilding his neighborhood of Broadmoor. In 2007 he was recruited to work for the Mayor of New Orleans and served two mayors over the course of five years. A life long cannabis consumer, he began his active advocacy during his wife’s battle with breast cancer. They both saw the efficacy of cannabis and in 2013 he formed CommonSenseNOLA to focus on cannabis policy reform. He fought to make Louisiana the first state to enact a medical cannabis program, via legislative action, in the South. He led the way for New Orleans to decriminalize cannabis in 2016, Baton Rouge in 2018 and statewide in 2021. In December of 2021 he joined Marijuana Policy Project as the Southeastern Legislative Manager. He currently leads MPP’s activities in 10 Southern states-Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Kansas.
