For obvious reasons, our marshes are loaded with flood-control structures that limit how much water can enter interior areas, threatening neighborhoods and businesses. They’re always located at narrow openings that funnel water in and out with the rising and falling tides.
Because of that, baitfish get pushed and pulled at rapid speeds, providing easy pickings for game fish, and those game fish, in turn, become easy pickings for anglers. This week, my nephew’s husband, Dustin Jones, and I hit a local flood-control structure to see what we could catch.
