The Boston Celtics are fresh off a trip to the NBA Finals, and they’re once again the ruling force in the Eastern Conference this season.

That’s not a coincidence, as Jayson Tatum continues to elevate his play every single year, and he’s now one of the biggest stars in the game.

Of course, he also has an elite sidekick in Jaylen Brown, not to mention an up-and-coming coach and a plethora of outstanding talents by his side.

But the Celtics will only go as far as Tatum can take them, and he’s posting MVP-caliber numbers.

That’s why former NBA player Vince Carter still thinks Tatum will win MVP once it’s all said and done this season, perhaps one of the boldest takes we’ve heard in recent days:

Notably, that has nothing to do with Tatum’s numbers or him as a player.

He’s been outstanding and would be a leading MVP candidate almost every year, just not this one.

Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic is leading the race by a landslide right now, and it seems like it would take a catastrophe for him not to take his third consecutive MVP award home.

We have under 30 games left in the season, and Jokic’s numbers are unprecedented, and the Nuggets continue to have the best record in the Western Conference.

There are at least five players with legit cases for MVP, but Jokic is playing winning basketball and is on the verge of becoming the first center to average a triple-double for a season; there’s no way to compete with that.
