Hurricane Delta weakened considerably before entering the northeastern region of the Yucatan Peninsula. It came as a Category 2 hurricane to Mexico. Now its circulation is located on the Gulf of Mexico and moves northwest towards the state of Louisiana. According to the National Hurricane Center forecast, Delta should strengthen again to a major hurricane within the next 48 hours. A weakening process will occur prior to its entry over Louisiana, which is why it is anticipated to arrive during hours of Friday afternoon as a Category 2 hurricane. Its effects will be felt from regions of Houston and Galveston in Texas to parts of Mississippi.
