Celtics Star Details An Unfortunate Game 7 Ailment

Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday was one of the worst losses in Boston Celtics history.

They had gotten there by erasing a 3-0 series deficit against the Miami Heat, and they had seemingly everything going their way coming into Monday.

But the Heat humiliated the Celtics, taking Game 7 in Boston by 19 points.

Center Robert Williams III was pretty much a non-factor with eight points and six rebounds in 14 minutes, and it turns out he was feeling under the weather, per analyst Keith Smith.

In addition, star forward Jayson Tatum tweaked his ankle early in the contest and appeared to be in pain throughout the night.

But neither Tatum nor Williams had an excuse, as both were available and played.

Last season, when Boston caught fire and reached the NBA Finals, Williams was one of the biggest reasons why.

He emerged as a force in the middle and anchored one of the league’s best defenses by averaging 2.2 blocked shots a game in the regular season.

But this season, Williams saw himself lose his starting job as head coach Joe Mazzulla chose to go with a smaller starting five at times.

He has also been riddled with injuries the last two seasons, and this year he appeared in just 35 regular-season contests.

All of a sudden, the Celtics are facing lots of questions, not to mention an uncertain immediate future.

Star wing Jaylen Brown will become a free agent next summer, and there is already speculation that he may want to leave Beantown one way or another.
