Carlos Beltran Has A New Role With The Mets

The New York Mets have gained a valuable voice in their front office.

Team legend Carlos Beltran, who had been serving in a role with YES, the TV home of the New York Yankees, will now be joining the Mets front office.

Beltran was one of the new members of this year’s Hall of Fame ballot, though he missed out on his first chance to be enshrined in Cooperstown.

The 45-year-old played with the Mets from 2005-2011 before being traded to the San Francisco Giants and later signing with the St. Louis Cardinals.

On Twitter, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com had the news of Beltran’s new role in the Mets front office.

The former star will serve as a special assistant to GM Billy Eppler.

In addition to his time with the Mets, Giants, and Cardinals, Beltran spent seven years with the Kansas City Royals, three with the New York Yankees, two with the Houston Astros, and made a brief stop with the Texas Rangers.

The slugger was part of the Astros run to the World Series in 2017.

After his retirement and the dismissal of former manager Mickey Callaway, Beltran was hired as the Mets new manager.

However, after news broke of the Astros sign-stealing scandal and his role in it, Beltran left his position before ever managing a single game.

But three years after his departure, he’ll be returning to the Mets in a new role, this time in the front office.

Beltran earned Rookie of the Year honors in 1998 and won two Silver Slugger Awards, three Gold Gloves, and earned nine All-Star nods.
