Blink-182 Release “Edging,” First New Song With Tom DeLonge in 10 Years: Listen

Blink-182 have released “Edging,” their first song with founding member Tom DeLonge since the 2012 EP Dogs Eating Dogs. Check out the new track below. The release follows the announcement of Blink-182’s huge reunion tour and new album with the classic lineup, both scheduled for 2023.

“Edging” was produced by Barker. “I wanted to imagine as a listener what I wanted to experience and at the same time as a band member what we wanted to make and say and most importantly how it would sound production wise in 2022,” the drummer said in a press release. Hoppus added: “I’m so happy to be back in the studio creating new music and looking forward to a giant world tour.” 

Since leaving Blink-182 in 2015, DeLonge continued recording with Angels & Airwaves while committing much of his time to the study of aliens, UFOs, and conspiracy theories. He founded To the Stars Academy of Arts & Sciences in 2015 and was the executive producer behind the History Channel series Unidentified: Inside America’s UFO Investigation. In 2020, the Pentagon declassified UFO videos that DeLonge’s company had previously shared.

The band, meanwhile, toured and released a pair of albums with Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba: 2016’s California and 2019’s Nine. Barker has collaborated with Post Malone and Machine Gun Kelly, among others, while Hoppus hosted the Apple Music 1 radio show After School Radio. In 2021, Hoppus revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer; later that year, he said he was now cancer free. This past August, Hoppus told People that DeLonge and Barker had visited him before he started chemotherapy. “It was the first time that all three of us were in the same room in, like, five years,” Hoppus said. “It’s actually better than it used to be. There was no agenda. There were no lingering grudges. It felt very back to what it should be: three friends sitting in a room.… Everybody’s in a really great place right now.”

Blink-182 announced their return with a characteristically juvenile announcement video. Their tour dates include New York shows at Madison Square Garden and Barclays Center and a concert at Los Angeles’ Banc of California Stadium. All the North American dates will feature support from Turnstile.
