Aaron Judge Picked Up Right Where He Left Off

Not too long ago, Aaron Judge broke the single-season American League home run record.

On Thursday, the slugger picked up right where he left off, hitting the first home run of the 2023 season and helping lead the New York Yankees to an Opening Day victory over the San Francisco Giants, who nearly signed Judge this past offseason.

New York won by a final of 5-0.

In fact, the home run came in the veteran slugger and reigning AL MVP’s first at-bat off of Giants starter Logan Webb.

On Twitter, Talkin’ Yanks posted the video of Judge starting off his 2023 season on the right foot.

Judge hit 62 home runs last season and helped guide the Yankees to a 99-win season, which gave them their first AL East division title since 2019.

And the slugger picked up right where he left off, sending one over the center field wall, which ultimately proved to be the difference in the game.

After a saga during the offseason where it appeared as if Judge was signing with the Giants, with Jon Heyman mistakenly referring to him as “Arson Judge,” the reigning MVP returned to the Bronx Bombers on a nine-year, $360 million contract.

And true to form, the veteran slugger got things going for the Yankees and led them to an Opening Day victory over San Francisco.

Judge certainly had a historic season in 2022 and is looking for more of the same in 2023 as the Yankees try to defend their AL East crown and bounce back from their ALCS loss to the Houston Astros.
