There are a lot of interesting things happening right now in the Seattle sports world.

The hometown Seattle Mariners are in the postseason for the first time since 2001, and the city is buzzing.

At the same time, we’re at the height of the NFL season, and as we know, the Seattle Seahawks are locked in a tight race in the NFC West division.

They had a game scheduled for 4:05 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.

But since the Mariners may be hosting Game 4 of the ALDS that day, the NFL decided to move the game back to 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time, so as not to conflict with the Mariners game.

Mariners Affecting The NFL Schedule

In short, how the ALDS plays out could end up having an effect on the NFL schedule.

With the Houston Astros already ahead by a game in the series, it may end up not being a factor.

With Game 3 being on Saturday, the Astros could potentially sweep the series and advance to the ALCS.

In that case, the game between the Cardinals and Seahawks will move back to its originally scheduled start time of 4:05 p.m. Eastern Time.

But if Game 4 is necessary, assuming that the Mariners win at least one of the next two games against the Astros, then the NFL schedule will be affected.

Such could end up being the case if the Mariners eliminate the Astros and advance to the ALCS.

Game 4 of that series would be scheduled for Sunday, October 23 and the Mariners would be at home for that game, hosting either the New York Yankees or the Cleveland Guardians.

A lot can happen over the next few days, but for now, the NFL has had to adjust its schedule just a bit for the Mariners.
